Future business leaders compete at regionals
FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) regionals were held Saturday, Feb. 1 at Edgar High School. Eight Rhinelander students competed against 29 other schools in the North/Central Wisconsin area.
Students could choose various types of events to compete in, such as taking a test on related business topics including accounting or personal finance or students could perform a presentation or speech for events such as desktop publishing or public speaking, according to a School District of Rhinelander press release. Some competitors competed on the day of competition and others took tests prior to the Regional Leadership Conference for a total of 19 competitors from Rhinelander.
The top three competitors in each event advance to state; 10 members will go from Rhinelander. Five came home with a first place medal: Payton McCue (Client Services), Kate Ripple (Business Law), Brody Kowieski (Impromptu Speaking), Greyson Gremban (Financial Math), and Kamden Kostrova (Computer Applications). In addition, one team took second place in their event: Aiden Ostermann, John Turek, and Michael Schiek (Entrepreneurship). Placing third was the team of Clara Pudlowski and Caden Ehrhardt (Introduction to Event Planning).
Placing fourth was the team of Luna Grage & Evi Sawyer (Marketing) and placing fifth was the team of Sam Caselton and Josh Haselton (Business Management). Also competing for Rhinelander were: Grant Gremban, Lylah Schroeder, Matthew Carpenter, Skylar Cleveland, and Barak Rappley. Rhinelander FBLA was recognized with a chapter award as well: first place for outstanding community service.
The state competition which will be held in Green Bay from March 30 - April 1.
