New Parkinson’s support group launching at YMCA of the Northwoods
The Wisconsin Parkinson Association (WPA), in partnership with the YMCA of the Northwoods, is launching a new Parkinson’s support group to provide community, resources, and encouragement for individuals living with Parkinson’s disease as well as their caregivers.
The group will meet on the second Tuesday of every month at 3 p.m. at the YMCA of the Northwoods, with the first meeting scheduled for Feb. 11 in the Dale and Gale Willcox Gathering Room, according to a YMCA press release.
With over 15,000 people in Wisconsin and more than one million nationwide diagnosed with Parkinson’s — a progressive neurological disorder with no known cure — support programs like this are vital, the release states. The WPA’s mission is to offer hope, community support, and resources to those affected. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and concerns to the group, where they can connect with others facing similar challenges. While we may not have all the answers, we are committed to guiding and supporting each other through this journey.
