Girls’ basketball: St. Croix Central 72, Rhinelander 38

The Panthers made their first five shots as they started on a 12-2 run and pulled away to a 34-18 lead at the break. Rhinelander got within 14 on two separate occasions in the second half, but the Panthers used a 14-2 run midway through the second to put the game out of reach.
Aubryn Clark led the Hodags with 12 points, Teagan Clark had 11 and Vivian Lamers scored 10. Sophie Hook scored 23 to lead St. Croix Central.
Rhinelander (5-5, 2-2 Great Northern) faces Menomonie Tuesday in the final day of the tournament.
Boys’ hockey: Rhinelander vs. Manistique, Mich., ppd.
The first day of the Rhinelander boys’ hockey holiday tournament was postponed as a residual effect of the winter storm that rolled through the area Sunday afternoon into early Monday morning.
The entire tournament was pushed back a day, with Monday’s games to be played Tuesday and Tuesday’s games now set for Wednesday. The Hodags (0-8-0, 0-4-0-0 Great Northern) will play Manistique, Mich. at approximately 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and will face Kingsford, Mich. at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
