Hodag strength to offer youth speed and movement sessions in Hodag Dome
The Hodag Strength program will offer youth speed and movement sessions in the Hodag Dome on Wednesday nights, Jan. 14 to March 11.
“Led by Luke Roberts, RHS strength and conditioning teacher and coach, this program is all about building better movers,” a social media post by the program announcing the event stated. “We’ll focus on key areas like mobility, flexibility, power, strength, speed, and overall movement efficiency, especially in patterns that are important for growing athletes. We will train in all planes of motion, and take a closer look at how the hips and ankles work together to create faster, more explosive movement. This will be done through speed, agility and plyometric training that can be applied to any sport.
“Kids will stay active and engaged while following a clear, structured training approach designed to boost their speed, agility, and body control. The work we do will help them develop strong movement habits they can carry into their high school years.”
The sessions are open to kids in kindergarten through eighth grade. Kindergarteners and first graders will practice from 3:45 to 4:15 p.m., with second through fourth graders from 4:15 to 5 p.m. and fifth through eighth graders from 5 to 5:45 p.m. Athletes must have tennis shoes that allow them comfortably to run, jump and change directions.
Registration is $10 per athlete, per weekly session. Links to online registration can be found on Hodag Strength’s Facebook page. For more information, email Roberts at [email protected].
