RBA hosts girls’ basketball tournament
The Rhinelander Basketball Association hosted a seventh- and eighth-grade girls’ basketball tournament at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium Saturday, Dec. 13.
The RBA’s eighth-grade girls’ team won its four-team pool, going undefeated on the day. The Hodags started with a 44-19 win over Marathon, defeated Lakeland 45-21 and knocked off Amherst 41-15. The RBA seventh-grade girls’ team went 1-2 on the day to take third in its pool. The Hodags lost their opener to Wittenberg-Birnamwood 48-16, rebounded with a 27-26 win over D.C. Everest and fell in the finale to Mosinee 38-17.

JV gymnasts 4th at Snowflake
The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team fielded a number of JV entries as it took fourth out of five teams in the JV division of Snowflake Invite Saturday, Dec. 13 at the YMCA of the Northwoods.
The Hodags scored 87.2 points with its JV squad on the day.
The Hodags had seven different gymnasts take part in JV action, with nobody doing all four events on JV. Sam Aschenbrenner competed in three events on JV and had the team’s best score in each, taking sixth on uneven bars (6.5), eighth on vault (7.85) and tying for 10th on floor exercise (6.7). Marsadies Williams led the team with an eighth-place finish on balance beam (7.35). June Chiamulera added a top-10 finish, placing 10th on vault (7.4).
