RHS Sports recap: Thursday, Dec. 18

Boys’ swimming: Rhinelander 115, Tomahawk 43

Despite having a number of swimmers out of the lineup due to illness, the Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team still had plenty of depth on Thursday to get past Tomahawk 115-43 in a GNC dual meet at the Heck Family Community Pool.

The Hodags won 10 of the 11 events on the night. Judson O’Malley and Dean Gillingham were both four-event winners. O’Malley took the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly, Gillingham won the 50 freestyle and the 100 breaststroke and both were on the winning 200 medley and 200 freestyle relays. 

Kellen O’Malley was part of three wins — including the 200 freestyle and the 100 backstroke individually — and Daniel Meier claimed the 100 freestyle. 

Rhinelander concludes GNC dual meet play a perfect 4-0 and is idle until Jan. 8 when it has an exhibition dual at Lakeland.

Gymnastics: Ashland, Lakeland at Rhinelander, ppd.

The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team’s scheduled non-conference triangular against Lakeland and Ashland was postponed Thursday due to inclement weather. A make-up date for the meet is to be determined. 

Rhinelander will be back in action Jan. 3 in the Wisconsin Rapids Invite.

Boys’ wrestling: Rhinelander at Mosinee, ppd.

A Great Northern Conference boys’ wrestling dual between Rhinelander and Mosinee in Rhinelander was postponed Thursday due to inclement weather. A make-up date for the meet is to be determined. 

Rhinelander (0-1 Great Northern) is back in action Friday as it hosts the Hodag Scramble in the Hodag Dome.
