Deborah Winchell

Deborah Jean Winchell, 70, of the Town of Pine Lake, passed away peacefully at home with her husband, Dale, and family at her side and under the care of Compassus Hospice.

Debra was born in Rhinelander on July 15, 1955, to Eugene F. and Phyllis A. (Bruckner) Martin. She was raised in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1974. It was while in high school that Debra met her future husband, Dale Winchell, and on Aug. 19, 1977, the couple was married at the Oneida County Courthouse.

Debra attended Nicolet College, receiving an associate degree in cosmetology. She was employed as a hairstylist for forty-five years, working for a time with Judy’s for Beauty, A Cut Above, and Diane’s Hair. She opened her own salon, “All About Style” in 2001, owning the business for sixteen years, retiring in 2017. While owning All About Style, Debra was involved with Look Good Feel Good for cancer patients. Debra was also a cancer fighter for seven and a half years.

She was a member of the Rhinelander Woman’s Club and had been an active volunteer for various organizations.

She enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and, in her younger years, hunting. Debra loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving is her loving husband, Dale, of forty-eight years, son, Marty (Jennifer) Winchell of Madison, three grandsons, Chris, William, and Nicholas Winchell, siblings, Tami (Butch) Sommers of Harshaw, Cheryl Radzinski of Rhinelander, and Dennis Martin of Rhinelander. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Phyllis Martin, and by one sister, Jean Marie Martin.

The Celebration of Life for Debra will take place at a later time.
