Virginia I. “Ginner” (Valle) Belmas, 84, of Rhinelander, died on December 9, 2025, with family by her side. She was born on August 23, 1941, in Montreal, youngest child of John and Florence (Wheeler) Valle. She married the love of her life, Gene, in 1962. He preceded her in death on July 8, 2024. She is survived by daughters Genelle (Douglas Bornemann) and Patricia (Nathan) Waech, son Steven, five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great-granddaughters.
She graduated from Hurley High School in Hurley in 1959 and attended Superior State College for a year, where she met her husband. They relocated to Rhinelander in 1963, where they lived for the rest of their lives. She spent most of her career with the U.S. Forest Service. She was an active member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, serving on the altar guild and as newsletter editor for many years. She sang and played bass guitar and keyboard for local band Nightfire in the 1980s and 1990s; her voice was unmatched. She loved all Wisconsin sports — Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers — and enjoyed evenings spent watching her teams or the Game Show Network. Dina Mia pizza was a must when her kids and grandkids were visiting.
As with her husband, her family was her first priority. There are no words to say how much we will miss her. “First to cheer you in success; last to leave you in distress.” Mom, may God keep you in His loving care.
Visitation for Virginia will be from 10 a.m. to noon, with funeral services following at noon on Monday, December 15, 2025, at the St. Mark Lutheran Church. Reverend Richard Miller will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Home Cemetery. You may leave your private condolences for the Belmas family at www.carlsonfh.com. The Carlson Funeral Home (715-369-1414) is serving the Belmas family.
