Trees of Love ceremonies mark 37th year in Arbor Vitae, Rhinelander

The Trees of Love will be lit for the 37th year at Compassus offices in Arbor Vitae and Rhinelander, according to a press release. Ceremonies are scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 1571 Highway 51 North in Arbor Vitae, and 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at 111 East Davenport St. in Rhinelander.

The events acknowledge the pain of loss many feel during the holidays. “Grief is especially difficult during the holidays,” said Compassus Volunteer Coordinator Mary Ellen Kaminski. “Our Trees of Love events serve as an acknowledgement of our loss, a time to share memories of our loved ones and a reminder that support is near.”

Attendees will receive ornaments to include in their own holiday celebrations and may write the name of a loved one on an ornament to place on the Tree of Love, which will remain lit throughout the season. No registration is required. Ceremonies will be held outdoors, with light refreshments available inside the offices.

Those unable to attend may visit either office to place a remembrance ornament on the trees. The Minocqua Noon Rotary Club and JJ’s Acres donated the Arbor Vitae tree, while Forth Floral donated the Rhinelander tree.
