An Eagle River man made an initial appearance in Vilas County court on Dec. 2 for being charged with first degree child sexual assault of a child under 16.
Shawn M. Briscoe, 37, Eagle River, was alleged to have sexually assaulted a child on various occasions with the use of threat or force and violence over the course of multiple years, according to the criminal complaint.
Also, the criminal complaint says, investigators were told Briscoe checked into a Green Bay rehabilitation facility at one point for having suicidal thoughts and addiction issues.
Judge Martha Milanowski set a $250,000 cash bond for Briscoe during the Dec. 2 court proceedings. He’s not to have any contact with any of the individuals involved in the case, have no contact with any minors under any circumstances and upon posting bail, he must provide the court with written authorization of where he’s living if it is someone else’s home.
Briscoe’s due back in court for an adjourned initial appearance on Dec. 8.
The class B felony he’s being charged with carries a maximum of 60 years in prison.
