Thank You Sheriff Joe Fath!
To the Editor:
After more than four decades of dedicated service, Vilas County Sheriff Joe Fath will be retiring this December. As someone who has known Sheriff Fath for many years, I want to take a moment to publicly thank him for his extraordinary commitment to the people of Vilas County. Joe has been a steady hand in this community for a long time, and his leadership has always reflected a genuine care for the people he served.
Joe has served as sheriff for the entire time I’ve been in the State Legislature, and throughout those years he has remained someone my office and I could always rely on. I know countless residents and local officials across Vilas County would say the same.
Earlier this year, Joe was nominated by local residents and selected as the 34th Assembly District’s First Responder of the Year, a recognition he truly earned through his decades of steady leadership and service to this community. Selecting him for the award was an easy choice for me. It was an honor to present him with that award and to see him recognized for the work so many people have appreciated for so long.
As Joe steps into retirement, I tip my hat to him for all of his hard work and dedication. Joe has more than paid his dues in public service to Vilas County, and I wish him nothing but the very best as he enjoys more time with his family, grandkids, and friends.
Rob Swearingen
State Representative
34th Assembly District
