Boys’ hockey: Tomahawk 13, Rhinelander 1
The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team fell to the defending WIAA Division 2 state champions Thursday night, losing 13-1 to Tomahawk in Great Northern Conference play at SARA Park.
The Hatchets scored on the opening shift and never looked back, taking an 8-0 lead after one period. Tomahawk tacked on five more goals in the second period. Jack Turek scored Rhinelander’s lone goal with roughly five minutes remaining in the second period.
Shots were 40-8 in favor of Tomahawk. Connor McGee recorded 27 saves in the loss.
Rhinelander (0-3-0, 0-2-0-0 Great Northern) travels to Oshkosh on Saturday.
