RHS students get a ‘real-life’ experience in the Sports Marketing Industry

On Tuesday, Nov. 11 several students from Mischell Fryar’s Sports & Entertainment Marketing classes at Rhinelander High School attended a sports career day, hosted by the Wisconsin Herd in Oshkosh.

On that field trip students listened to a panel of six speakers all of which had different marketing careers in the sports industry. The speakers were:  Abby Haling – Graphic Designer and Photographer, Wisconsin Timber Rattlers; Brianne Barta – Assistant General Manager, Wausau Woodchucks; Bryan Giese – Director of Marketing and Communications, Lake Country DockHounds; Kate Ulrich – Senior Director of Live Programming and Entertainment, Milwaukee Bucks; Megan Milliron – Assistant Director of Brand Communications, UW Madison; and Nicholas Theisen – Director of Sales and Service, Marquette University.  

After the round table discussion the students had the chance to do a question-and-answer session with the experts. They also were able to take a tour of the facility where they learned about the different areas of the arena.

The students were then able to sit courtside during warmups where they had the opportunity for autographs, photos, and lots of high fives.  Staying for the game was a great way to wrap up this wonderful experience.
