Gus Holzbauer, age 23, a 20-year resident of Eagle River, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025 in Woodruff. Gus was born on July 4, 2002 in Appleton, to Steven and Jodi Holzbauer.
Gus was a 2020 graduate of Three Lakes High School and a graduate of Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, with a degree in criminal justice. He worked as a corrections officer for Oneida Co. and formerly of Calumet Co.
Gus married his high school sweetheart, McKenzie, on June 11, 2022 in Eagle River. He was a collector of WWII memorabilia and enjoyed traveling to the Florida Keys. He was a member of the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Above all he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his beloved dogs: Finley and Aggie.
He is survived by his wife: McKenzie Holzbauer of Eagle River; parents: Steven and Jodi Holzbauer of Eagle River; brother: Samuel (MacKenzie) Holzbauer of New Ulm, Minn.; maternal grandparents: Robert and Claudia Doman of Eagle River; paternal grandfather: John Holzbauer of Ohio; paternal grandparents: Terry and Kitty Colligan of Waupaca; father and mother-in-law: Brian (Patti) Frankenberg; sister-in-law: Madisen (Julio Ridgley) Frankenberg and their son, Remington Frankenberg of Eagle River; and grandmother-in-law: Carol Dart. He is further survived by many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends which he loved deeply.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, at the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle River. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
