William Joseph Weyker, 81, of Rhinelander, passed away on Friday evening, August 15, 2025, with his family at his side at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

William was born on May 2, 1944, in Sheboygan, to Eugene and LaVerne (Huiras) Weyker. He was raised in the Random Lake area, graduating in 1962, from Random Lake High School.

He attended U.W. Madison for a year. He then attended the Bryant & Stratton Business College from 1966 until 1967. Bill then enlisted in the U.S. Army proudly serving his country in Vietnam from 1968-1971 as a radio repairman, achieving the rank of S-5. Bill was a self-taught in building computers.

After serving his country, Bill returned to Wisconsin owning his own TV, radio repair and antenna installation, owning his own business in Fredonia, and later in Waubeka, calling it Willy’s TV and Appliance. He was united in marriage to Sharon L. Sterman on August 18, 1979. The couple owned/managed two True Value Hardware Stores, one in Waubeka, and the other in Naples, Texas. A son, Eugene, was born in Wisconsin and a daughter, Evelyn, was born in Texas. The family lived in Texas for more than thirty years. William also owned his own insurance agency from 1991 until 2011 when William retired.

He was a member of the National Radio Institute, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Rose Ct. #479, V.F.W. Post #7037 Waubeka, and the V.F.W. Post #8637 Eagle River, and the Fort Lee Flying Club.

Bill at a young age took flying lessons and received his pilot’s license, which he was very proud of.

He enjoyed stamp and coin collecting, restoring vintage cars from the 50s, building computers, attending auctions and woodworking.

Surviving are his children, Eugene (Lauren Crow) Weyker of Gleason, and Evelyn (Ryan Miller) Weyker of Rhinelander, three grandchildren, Harley (Dylan Spencer) Weyker, Declan Miller, and Eugene Miller, siblings, Kathy (Gerald) Krause of Muskego, and Karen (Randy) Shepherd of Oshkosh. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Joseph D. and Susan M. (Geib) Huiras, who had a large part in raising Bill, and two brothers, Ronald Jacob Weyker and Kenneth J. Schloemer.

The visitation for Bill will take place on Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 5:30 until 6:30 p.m.. A second visitation will take place on Friday, Aug. 29, at St. Kunegunda of Poland Catholic Church located at 6895 Hwy. 17 N, Sugar Camp, from 11 a.m. until the noon Mass of Christian burial. Immediately following the mass, a committal service will be held in the church cemetery with military honors being conducted by the Northwood’s Honor Guard and by two representatives from the United States Army.
