Utility pole damage causes brief outage

An issue with a damaged utility pole crossarm near the intersection of Lake Julia Road and County Highway G resulted in a brief power outage for 2,200 Rhinelander area Wisconsin Public Service (WPS) customers Tuesday.

WPS spokesperson Matt Cullen said crews were able to reroute power “around the issue” and restore power to nearly all of the affected customers. 

He said he expected power would be restored to everyone who was affected by Tuesday afternoon. 

As for what caused the damage to the crossarm, Cullen said that was still being looked into by WPS personnel.
