In Loving Memory of Gregg Alan Bruso.

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gregg Alan Bruso on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home in Cosby, Tenn.

There are special people in our lives who never leave us, even after they have gone. Gregg led a lifetime of spreading care and kindness to others. He was well loved and respected by all who met him. His soulful presence touched the hearts and lives of many, leaving us with treasured memories.

Gregg was 66 years old when he passed. He was born in Rhinelander on September 2, 1958. He peacefully passed away in the arms of his beloved wife, Shari L. Bruso at home overlooking the creek surrounded by the love of family. Those he left behind are his stepchildren, grandchildren, siblings, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, cousins, and many dear friends.

Gregg was passionate about serving others within his community (Rhinelander, Eagle River and Cosby, Tenn.). As a young boy he joined the Boy Scout troop 595 (Pine Lake) in Rhinelander and later, as an adult, became the Boy Scout leader for the same troop. While in junior and senior High, he became an active founding member of the Hodag Water Shows water ski team first organized in 1971. The Rhinelander ski club continues to perform weekly shows at Hodag Beach in the town’s center each summer.

He was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, an auto-immune genetic disease, at age 10 that can affect the function of multiple organs in the body. As an adult he became an active spokesperson for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Gregg, along with his driving partner John Warner Jr, participated in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation “One Lap of America” in 1986 to raise awareness of Cystic Fibrosis and raising funds for ongoing research. Link to www.cff.org for more information.

Gregg was very involved with his faith community as a Catholic lay reader of prayer. His ministry served local nursing home residents and the inmates of Oneida County Jail by bringing prayer and Holy Communion to them. He also officiated many weddings and funerals.

He was an honest hardworking business owner for several companies in Rhinelander. He was owner and President of Settle In Services, a household intra- and interstate moving company serving as an agent for Bekins Van Lines. He also owned and operated Rapid Cab LLC for the city of Rhinelander. As the owner of Woodland Pallets, he provided wood pallets to companies for shipping stock and products.

Gregg enjoyed many hobbies which included boating, canoeing, waterskiing, fishing, deer hunting, motorcycling, paragliding, snow shoeing, a love for vintage antiques, and hanging out with his dogs in nature.

A special thanks goes out to Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice of Newport, Tenn. for their tender care and comfort during his transition. Also, a special thanks and appreciation to Manes Funeral Home in Newport, Tenn. for the dignity and honor given to Gregg and his family. The obituary can be located at the Manes Funeral Home website where you can leave messages of condolence for the Gregg A. Bruso family. Find the link to this at: www.manefuneralhome.com. Special thanks to Danny and Robin for their gracious support and friendship.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests you donate to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Gregg’s memory. We thank you in advance for considering this support for a foundation close to Gregg’s heart. Go to the link at www.cff.org, click on the donation page, list ‘in memory of Gregg A Bruso.’

There will be a small private local memorial on Sunday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m. at Allen’s Missionary Baptist Church, 2495 Dark Hollow Rd, Cosby, Tenn. For those residing outside the area the family asks to pause that day, say a prayer, and light a candle in Gregg’s memory. The dates and times for a memorial mass service scheduled in spring 2026 at St Mary’s Church, Rhinelander will be announced later.

Remembering a beloved soul who touched many lives.
