PHOTOS: Hodag BMX gears up for big weekend

The Hodag BMX Club held its regular Monday night racing session Aug. 4 at West Side Park in Rhinelander. The event leads in to one of the club’s biggest weekends of the season as it hosts four straight days of racing Aug. 8-11.

The weekend begins with a local race Friday, Aug. 8. The track will host the BMX competition of the Badger State Games Saturday, Aug. 9, which will also double as the club’s Race For Life event — a fundraiser by racing sanctioning body USABMX that benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Sunday, Aug. 10 will be the track’s Wisconsin State Championship qualifier race and Monday, Aug. 11 will be another local race. 

Racing for the weeknight races will begin shortly after 7 p.m. and the weekend races will kick off shortly after noon. The state qualifier race is one in a series ahead of the Wisconsin BMX State Championships, which the Hodag BMX Club will host Sept. 5-7.
