Northern Lights Indivisible-Rhinelander appears on Rachel Maddow Show

Northern Lights Indivisible-Rhinelander is a grassroots group based in northern Wisconsin that seeks to defend democracy, promote justice and hold elected officials accountable. According to a press release, it is a chapter of the nationwide Indivisible movement founded by local citizens who believe real change starts at the community level, with people showing up, speaking out and standing together.

Known for bold, creative protests and what members call “joyful resistance,” the group brings energy and humor to serious issues. Whether calling out politicians who dodge constituents or demonstrating weekly in rain, snow and sprinkler water, it has built a reputation for persistence and principle.

In July, members joined two other Indivisible chapters outside U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany’s office in Wausau. Tired of having sprinklers turned on them, protesters wore beach attire, including snorkels and flotation devices. The event drew national attention when it was featured on the Rachel Maddow Show.

The group collaborates with advocacy organizations throughout the region to amplify rural voices it says are often overlooked. Members say their efforts show activism doesn’t just live in big cities but thrives wherever people speak out.
