RHS Sports recap: Tuesday, April 29

Baseball: Medford 5, Rhinelander 3

A late rally for the RHS baseball team fell short Tuesday afternoon in a 5-3 loss to Medford at Stafford Field.

Trailing 5-1 in the seventh, the Hodags got two runs back as Dylan Vanderbunt rounded the bases on a double and an error, but the Hodags hit back-to-back fly outs after that to end it.

Medford broke a 1-all tie with two runs in the fourth inning and added insurance runs in the fifth and seventh. Rhinelander scored in the second but not again until the seventh, despite loading the bases in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Jackson Waydick allowed on earned run on five hits with two walks and a strikeout over six innings. Conner Rappley had a pair of hits as the Hodags and Raiders finished tied in the hit column at five a piece.
