Track: RHS girls 1st/8, boys 2nd/8, Eagle Relays
There were plenty of wins to go around for the Rhinelander High School track team on Thursday. The Hodag girls won six events and claimed first place overall while the Hodag boys scored seven wins and came home second at the Eagle Relays in Eagle River.
The squad of Luna Grage, Kara Monk, Brynn Teter and Macy Myers won both the 4x1600 and 4x400 relays for the Hodag girls. Myers and Teter were also part of the win in the pole vault relay, as the aggregate height of their marks, paired with teammates Emeline Hintz, was the best among participating schools. The Hodags also took the 4x100, the 4x100 throwers and the shot put relays. Individually, Averie West won the 300 hurdles and Myers took the pole vault.
On the boys’ side, Avrom Barr, Jackson Weinzatl and Greyson Gremban were winners in the 4x1600 and 4x800 relays, teaming with Dean Gillingham in the 4x800 and Shawn Denis in the 4x800. David Houg, Logan Schwinger and Reid Schultz finished 1-2-3 overall to claim the shot put relay while Truman Lamers, Landon Catlin and Matthew Haselton went 1-2-4 in the triple jump to win that event for the team. Rhinelander also took the long jump and high jump relays, along with the 4x100 throwers. Lamers added an individual win in the high jump.
Rhinelander returns to action on Tuesday in the Wausau East Invite.
