Tri-County Heroes Event April 23
The Tri-County Heroes Event, a collaborative effort between the Tomah Veterans Adminstration (VA) Medical Center and the Taylor, Price and Lincoln County veterans service offices, will be held on April 23, from 1 to 5 p.m at the Northwoods Veterans Post in Merrill. This event aims to provide veterans with comprehensive assistance in navigating the often complex process of applying for benefits and services.
Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with representatives from an estimated 20-25 organizations, each specializing in different areas of veteran support.
• Lincoln County veterans service officer Matthew Pultz and deputy veterans service officer Tiffany Daigle will be able to offer personalized guidance on a wide range of benefits and services.
With their participation in the event, the veterans service office on Sales Street will be closed on April 23.
• The organization Patriot K9s will provide detailed information about their service dog training programs and the ways in which service dogs can support veterans with post traumatic stress, mobility issues and other disabilities.
• Bryon Gleisner with the Northwoods National Cemetery in Harshaw will be present to discuss burial benefits, eligibility requirements and the process of applying for interment.
• TouXoua Yang with the National Training Center (NTC) will be available to assist veterans with the center’s certification process, which can open doors to various employment and training opportunities.
• Nancy Brown and other Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development representatives will provide information about the range of employment services, training programs and job search assistance available to veterans.
• Debbie Meye with the Outreach and Recovery Program of the Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA) will discuss the comprehensive programs and services offered by the WDVA, including mental health support, substance abuse treatment, housing assistance and other forms of support.
In addition to these organizations, representatives from other veteran-focused organizations and service providers are expected to be present.
