Middle school harriers open season
The James Williams Middle School cross country team opened the 2024 season by hosting a nine-team invitational at Rhinelander High School Thursday, Sept. 12.
The Hodag girls finished third out of five qualifying teams, while the Hodags boys took fourth out of eight.
Sixth-grader Charlotte MacIntyre led the Hodag girls, covering the roughly 3-kilometer course in 13 minutes, 22.4 seconds. Jade Chiamulera took 17th (13:59.7), Quinn Stinebrink finished 19th (14:01.1), Noelle Mayo was 22nd (14:16.4) and Olivia Eades finished 28th (15:16.2).
Channing Waksmonski paced the Hodag boys, finishing seventh with a time of 12:20.7. Espen McMahon finished 15th (13:45.6), Casey Waksmonski was 20th (14:05.3), Max Cahee finished 27th (14:28.8) and Jack Congdon was 30th (14:48.7).

The James Williams Middle School volleyball teams took on Medford Monday, Sept. 16 at the JWMS gymnasium.

JV2 volleyball
The RHS JV2 volleyball team hosted a six-team invitational Monday, Sept. 16 at the Jim Miazga Community Gymnasium.

The Rhinelander High School girls’ tennis team hosted D.C. Everest in a junior varsity meet Monday, Sept. 16 at the RHS tennis courts.
