The public is invited to enjoy the beautiful fall colors, and give back by volunteering with Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT), from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at Holmboe Conifer Forest State Natural Area in Rhinelander. Volunteers are needed to help to preserve the native ecosystems at Holmboe by hand-pulling invasive species encroaching on the old-growth forest, according to a NWLT press release.
Please register in advance by signing up online at northwoodslandtrust.org or by emailing [email protected] by Tuesday, Sept. 24. Participants should check the weather the day before, as a variety of conditions are possible. We recommend bringing work gloves, and extra water. This event will happen rain or shine, and will only be canceled due to severe weather.
Directions: The parking area is located in the City of Rhinelander behind the Riverview Hall facility at 903 Boyce Dr.
You can type Holmboe Conifer Forest Trailhead into Google Maps. Coordinates for the parking lot are 45.627285, -89.426279.
