ADRC of Oneida County offers healthy living with diabetes
Today there are 406.4 thousand people in Wisconsin living with diabetes according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. A diabetes diagnosis brings big changes, and it is important to find solutions that work for you. People with diabetes or pre-diabetes can improve their health by joining a Healthy Living with Diabetes workshop sponsored by The Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) of Oneida County. The program has been researched and proven that participants have a 53 percent reduction in emergency department visits.
In just six weekly sessions Healthy Living with Diabetes gives participants strategies for managing diabetes including techniques to communicate with family, friends and health professionals practicing healthy eating and nutrition, relaxation techniques, and exercise for fitness and fun, coping with stress and depression, and goal setting and problem solving. In just six weeks, you can learn to take charge of your health and get back to doing the things that matter to you!
Healthy Living with Diabetes will be held at the ADRC, 100 W Keenan Street in Rhinelander on Mondays from Sept. 23 to Nov. 6 (no class on Oct. 28). There is a suggested donation of $20 for the workshop.
