Tri-County Council to host ‘Painting Silence Purple’ Color Run/Walk
The Tri-County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault will kick off Domestic Violence Awareness month on Saturday, Sept. 28 with the second annual “Painting Silence Purple” Color Run/Walk.
The event will start at Hodag Soccer Club Field in Rhinelander, where participants will gather to celebrate and raise awareness for a great cause.
“The Painting Silence Purple Color Run is a fun-filled day for people of all ages and fitness levels,” organizers said in a press release. “Whether you prefer to run or walk, this event welcomes everyone to come together and enjoy the peaceful surroundings while supporting a meaningful cause. The route will take you through 5K (3.1 miles) of beautiful Northwoods fall scenery. Throughout the course, participants will be showered with vibrant purple color powder, creating a magical and colorful atmosphere. As you make your way through the route, feel the excitement and energy of the crowd, and let the purple colors ignite your spirit. Wear as much purple and white as you can!”
“By participating in the Painting Silence Purple Color Run, you are helping to start the conversation about the importance of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and breaking the silence surrounding it,” the release notes. “Together, we can make a difference and show support for those who may be struggling silently.”
The event will begin at 8:15 a.m. with sign in and the run/walk will follow at 9. Afterwards, there will be a foam (bubblepalooza) party, curtesy of Kenny’s Elite, also held within the event location.
Registration is required and closes on Sept. 18. This can be completed through www.eventbrite.com. There is a fee of $10 for registration to help offset costs, but we have some great options available to work with survivors and families if financial limits create barriers for participation, the release states.
