When the Rhinelander High School girls’ swim team hosts its first meet of the season this Thursday, it will be greeted by a new scoreboard inside the Heck Family Community Pool.
The new board, with a full-color display, was installed at the end of August. A replacement was needed after the former scoreboard malfunctioned last fall. Funding for the new scoreboard included a $10,000 donation from the Rhinelander Athletic Booster Club.
“The ABC has been very fortunate to help with every scoreboard Rhinelander has needed for their athletics, dating back to when the football scoreboard was on the south end of the field,” ABC president Brandon Karaba stated. “Coach Jenny Heck and company continue to do an amazing job with our swim teams and to add a new, much improved scoreboard to their facility is just icing on the cake to go with those State Championship teams.”
“We’re just thrilled and really thankful for the ABC, giving the donation for the scoreboard,” Heck said. “Without all that support, we don’t have enough funds. They’ve been so generous. The swimmers love to help the ABC at their golf outing because they do so much for not only the swim team, but they do so much for Rhinelander sports. They’re very generous and giving. We couldn’t be for grateful.”
The Hodags host Ladysmith in a GNC dual on Thursday and will take on Wausau West in a non-conference dual at home this Saturday.
