Karen Marie Champeny, age 65, of Minocqua, died on September 1, 2024, at the Country Terrace in Minocqua. She was born on August 15, 1959, in Hurley, to Newfrey and Dolores (Pretti) Burzinski.
Karen enjoyed poetry and co-wrote and published “There’s a Seahorse in My World”. She loved and cherished her family and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She also loved music, and played guitar, piano and sang. She attended the Northern Lights Church of God and loved all of her church family. Even right up to her last days, she still found a way to laugh and joke with everyone.
Karen is survived by her mother Dolores, her daughter Jessica Steinmetz (Morgan Denney), her son David (Amy) Wittig, her grandchildren Joshua, Jayda, Jocelyn, Justice, Kali, Zachary and Lindsay, four great-grandchildren, her sisters Barbara Burzinski-Yeomans and Mary (Charlie) Conrod, her brothers Paul (Cindy) Burzinski and David (Linda) Burzinski, many nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Newfrey and her brother James “Jimmy” Burzinski.
Visitation for Karen will be on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 10 a.m. to noon, with a service following at noon, all at the Carlson Funeral Home in Rhinelander.
