Candace “Candy Bettinger, 78, of Rhinelander, passed away at her home on Thursday morning, August 22, 2024, with her children at her side and under the care of Compassus at Home Hospice.
Candace was born in Rhinelander on November 16, 1945, to Rex and Bonnie Lewis. She was raised in Rhinelander and was a 1963 graduate of Rhinelander High School. She was united in marriage to Charles Bettinger on December 3, 1966. Candy was employed for over 30 years with the Department of Motor Vehicle last working as a CAD Graphics Designer. She retired on March 18, 2005.
Candace enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, fishing trips to Canada, ice fishing on Pelican Lake, going to the hunting shack in Enterprise for the annual “Shoot em up party”, and gambling trips with her sisters and nieces.
Candy also enjoyed reading her books and watching scary movies with her grandchildren.
She will be dearly missed by her children, Dean (Denese) Bettinger, and Nick (Terri) Bettinger, grandchildren, Damien (Alexis) Bettinger, Robert Bettinger, Megan Bettinger (Jon Yanke), and Jenna Bettinger, great-grandchildren, Haylee Anderson, Maddy Chavez, and Vivynn Bettinger, and one sister, Linda (Larry) Terzinski.
Also surviving are nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Candace was preceded in death by her parents, and by sisters, Judy and Sherry.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
