RHS Sports recap: Saturday, Sept. 7

Volleyball: Rhinelander 2-2, Ashland Invite

The RHS volleyball team split its matches on Saturday in the Ashland Invite.

The Hodags started the day with a three-set loss to Pines (26-27, 27-25, 16-14), then beat Ironwood (26-24, 25-22), lost to Wakefield-Marenisco (25-19, 27-26) before taking a three-setter over Jeffers (19-25, 25-21, 16-14).

Libbey Buchmann had a team-high 34 kills on the day to go along with 25 assists, 39 digs and three service aces. Ava Rathbun added 12 kills while Macey Schmoeger had nine. Kelsi Beran had nine kills and five blocks, Lucy Lindner had 33 assists and seven aces, while Tori Stella finished with 60 digs.

Rhinelander (4-12, 0-1 Great Northern) will host Antigo Tuesday night at the Jim Miazga Community Gym.
