James “Jim” Thomas Shepherd

James “Jim” Thomas Shepherd, 89, of Rhinelander, passed away at his home on Saturday evening, August 31, 2024, with his family at his side.

Jim was born in Rhinelander on April 10, 1935, to William R. and Cecelia (Sackett) Shepherd. He was raised in Rhinelander and in 1953 graduated from Rhinelander High School. On November 20, 1953, in Rhinelander, Jim was united in marriage to Audrey G. Nance. The couple made their home in Rhinelander. Jim was employed for 32 years with Jesse Food Products, retiring as the warehouse manager.

He was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors including fishing and hunting. He also enjoyed traveling and was a member of Sammy Jr’s and Pizza Haven dartball teams.

He will be dearly missed by his wife of over 70 years, Audrey; children, Mike Shepherd of Janesville, Jean (Jim) Allen of Zephyrhills, Fla., Steve Shepherd of Rhinelander, Debbie Shepherd of Rhinelander, Bill (Laurie) Shepherd of Deerbrook, and Carol Peterson of Minneapolis, Minn.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Patrick Shepherd, and by two brothers and four sisters.

The visitation for Jim will take place on Monday, September 9, 2024, at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church, located at 125 E. King Street, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial Mass. Fr. Chris Kemp will officiate.

Immediately following the mass, there will be a procession to Northland Memorial Park for the committal service.
