Thomas Gregory

Gregory
Gregory

On the evening of May 26, 2024 Tom left earthly life unexpectedly while at the family cottage in Harshaw. He lived a full life with love of family, friendship, adventure, work, and travel for 73 and a half years. He was a vibrant, focused hard worker until ALS (Lou Gehrigs Disease) slowed his pace in the final chapter of his life.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jeanne (Seaman) and his daughter Katherine (Kate) Gregory of rural River Falls. He was preceded in death by his sons Timothy (Tim) Joseph and Oake Christophe (formerly Chris) Gregory.

He was born in Rhinelander on September 6, 1950, the son of LaRoy and Lazida (McDonald) Gregory, where he grew up and graduated from RUHS. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, Mich. After college he worked 5 years for Union Carbide, Linde Division in Tonawanda, N.Y. then joined 3M Corporation in St. Paul, Minn. and worked for 32 years until his retirement. He traveled the world for work, with his family, and with friends. He lived in many places after marriage to Jeanne and college including Tonawanda, Hudson and River Falls, Bougival and Paris, France, Cleveland, Ohio, and St. Paul, Minn. He dearly valued all the many close friendships he made in all the places.

He loved wine and the wine experiences which brought with it tasting, travel, adventure, and friendship. He was a handy person and could make or fix just about anything. An active man, he enjoyed keeping up his St. Croix property, being at the cottage on Oneida Lake with family, kayaking, hiking, playing bridge, . . .

He will be missed. In addition to Jeanne and Kate he is survived by his brother Gary (Mary) Gregory and family, his sister Deb Gregory, the families of his deceased sisters Barbara (Jerry) Loesch and Rickie (Butch) Danner and also Jeanne’s siblings and families.

He is preceded in death by his sons, his parents, Jeanne’s parents (Joseph and Isabelle Seaman), and sisters including Royce Marie who died at a very young age.
