Kathleen Evers

On Saturday, October 12, 2024, Kathleen Jeanne (Jenista) Evers, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 76. She was born on October 3, 1948, in Racine, the daughter of Eugene and Betty (Peters) Jenista. Harshaw was her home for the last 40 years.

Kathy grew up a Racine “city girl” and lived there for many years in the home her father built with his own hands. She attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where she met, in a bowling class, her husband of 50 years, “country boy” Rhinelander native Douglas Evers, who she married on June 20, 1970. They lived in various places in Wisconsin and even had a short stint in Texas, but they settled in the beautiful Northwoods which Kathy adored.

Kathy was a substitute teacher in the School District of Rhinelander until she became a stay-at-home mom to her four children: sons, Charles (Chuck) and Eric, and daughters, Wendy and Heidi. As a young wife and mother, Kathy spent most of her time homeschooling her children, cooking wonderful meals for her family, and getting her kids to their various activities. She was a longtime rink mom to her two skating girls and to pretty much everyone at the rink who knew her for her loving and kind nature. Kathy was also a firm believer in Jesus Christ who led the family in being baptized in the name of her beloved Savior, her bible well worn and cherished.

In her later years, Kathy loved crafting cards and coloring, and she adored watching her grandchildren grow and was extremely proud to be their “Ahma.”

Kathy is survived by her four children and their three spouses, Chuck and Jen (Lewandoski), Eric and Cori (LaBarbera), Troy and Wendy (Evers) Thompson, and Heidi Evers; her five grandchildren, Zachary (Emma) Thompson and Samuel Thompson, Elijah, Owen, and Luciana Evers; and her sister, Linda (Jenista) Smith, and brother, Daniel Jenista. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doug, younger brother, David, and sister-in-law, Pam Jenista.

In remembrance of Kathy’s life and love, the family requests any charitable donations to be made to Faith Baptist Church, or to Kathy’s favorite radio station 89Q.

Visitation for Kathleen will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024 from 9 to 11 a.m., with funeral services following at 11 a.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Pastor Mark Ring will be officiating. Interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 at the Union Grove Cemetery.
