Boys’ soccer: Rhinelander 1, Medford 1 (Rhinelander wins PKs 4-1)
The RHS boys’ soccer team avenged a penalty kick shootout loss earlier in the season to Medford by defeating the Raiders in penalties 4-1 Tuesday at Mike Webster Stadium after the sides played to a 1-1 draw in regulation.
Both goals during the match came from the penalty spot. Michael Meyer converted for Medford in the 33rd minute and Aidan Lueder scored a penalty in the 58th.
Rhinelander converted all four of its chances in penalties with Lueder, Michael Schiek, Aiden Ostermann and Asher Rivord. Medford missed a shot high and keeper Barak Rappley stopped another as the Raiders converted only once in three tries.
The Hodags outshot Medford 16-9 in the match. Both teams finished with seven shots on goal and Rappley made six saves for Rhinelander.
