The Sayner-St. Germain Fish and Wildlife Club will host an evening with Northwoods historian Kerry Bloedorn on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the St. Germain Community Center. The presentation, entitled “From Glaciers to Logging Boom and the Civilian Conservation Corps; the Rise and Fall, and Rise Again, of the Northwoods Forests” is set to begin at 7 p.m., organizers said in a press release.

Bloedorn is a long-time Rhinelander area resident, whose roots in northern Wisconsin go back multiple generations. He is the director and curator of Rhinelander’s Pioneer Park Historical Complex, which features the oldest Logging Museum in the nation. Bloedorn is the writer and host of WJFW-12’s “Connecting the Dots” history program and “A Northwoods Moment in History” on WXPR Public Radio. He also writes feature articles for The New North Magazine. Bloedorn has a passion for exploring the history of the Northwoods and sharing it with others.

The presentation will feature many historical photographs, and Bloedorn is known to be a fascinating speaker, weaving local history with captivating stories about our Northwoods past, the release states.

Bloedorn will focus on the history of logging and the impact of the Civilian Conservation Corps, which had a significant effect on our area.

The program is free and open to the public. All ages are welcome. The presentation will last an hour, with time for questions. The St. Germain Community Center is located at 545 State Highway 155 in St. Germain. For more information, contact Kelly at 715-542-1614.
