Girls' tennis: Rhinelander at WIAA sectionals

The Rhinelander High School No. 2 doubles team of Evelyn Sawyer and Maya Patrick lost both of their matches Wednesday and placed fourth in a WIAA Division 1 sectional tournament in Eau Claire. 

The Hodag tandem lost to Eau Claire Memorial's Gracie Boughton and Shay Fisher 6-2, 6-0 in the semifinals and to Marshfield's Aubrey Layton and Audrey Luedtke 6-1, 6-3 in the third-place match. 

Sawyer and Patrick, both seniors, finished their season 15-11 together at the No. 2 doubles flight. Only the sectional champion received a bid to the WIAA state tournament.
