Gustav James Bramann, age 85, of Rhinelander, died on September 26, 2024, at home. He was born on June 8, 1939, in Milwaukee, the son of Gustav and Anna (Cervik) Bramann.

He grew up in Milwaukee and attended schools in the area. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Once discharged from the Navy he went to technical school for Auto Body training. He worked for Selig Ford and Deoring Dodge in Milwaukee. In 1976 he moved to the Crandon area and then later moved to Rhinelander. Gus did auto body work for a few years before starting a job for the Oneida County Road Crew. In his spare time, he was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Crescent.

Gus enjoyed hunting, fishing, working at Brush Run, watching NASCAR races, and Packers football games. He also was a member of Ducks Unlimited. He loved to spend time with his family, most of all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his grandchildren Michael (Alyssa) Bramann and Cody (Sarah) Bramann, his great-grandchildren Meredith, Chloe and Adalynn, his sister Anna Marie (Bruce) Kemp, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his son David “Gus” Bramann, and his parents.

There will be a visitation held on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a memorial service following at 1 p.m., all at the Carlson Funeral Home. Reverend Nate Plocher will be officiating.
