Volleyball: Rhinelander 3, Northland Pines 1
The Rhinelander High School volleyball team secured its second Great Northern Conference win of the season, defeating the Northland Pines Eagles in four sets Tuesday night in Eagle River.
The Hodags took the match 25-20, 25-22, 10-25, 25-15.
Kelsi Beran led the Hodags with nine kills and added a pair of blocks and two aces on the night. Libbey Buchmann had six kills and nine digs, Lucy Lindner had 23 assists, Tori Stella had 14 digs and Cassidy Lindner added 11 digs and three aces.
Rhinelander (11-21, 2-5 Great Northern) hosts Medford on Thursday.
Girls’ tennis: Wisconsin Rapids 5, Rhinelander 2
The Rhinelander High School girls’ tennis team dropped its final regular season match of the season, losing to Wisconsin Rapids 5-2 on the road Tuesday in non-conference play.
Maddie Legrey picked up a straight-set win for the Hodags at No. 3 singles and the team of Evelyn Sawyer and Maya Patrick used a match tiebreaker to secure a win at No. 2 doubles.
The Hodags (13-17, 3-4 Great Northern) will host WIAA Division 1 subsections this coming Monday in Rhinelander.
