RHS Activities, WADA to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Dec. 3
The Rhinelander High School Activities Department, in conjunction with the Wisconsin Athletic Directors Association (WADA), will be raising funds for Make-A-Wish during the RHS girls’ basketball team’s home contest against Medford this coming Tuesday.
“On this day we are hoping to collect Make-A-Wish donations,” the RHS activities department stated in a press release. “Last year, the Wisconsin Athletic Director Association (WADA) made a concerted effort to raise money for the Wisconsin Chapter of Make-A-Wish, in conjunction with the NIAAA’s (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association) effort at the national level.”
The release stated that last year WADA raised more than $21,000 for Make-A-Wish Wisconsin through the efforts of 45 supporting members throughout Wisconsin, which allowed two Make-A-Wish individuals have their wishes fulfilled.
“We were pleased with the outcome, but would love to see more participation from within communities to help over 500 children in Wisconsin on the list, waiting to have their wish granted,” the release added. “No effort will go unnoticed and no donation too small! Every single penny raised will go directly towards wishes being granted for those Wisconsin children in need of a wish granted!”
Admission is free for the evening, which begins with junior varsity play at 5:45 p.m., followed by the varsity at 7:15. Donations will be collected during the contest. Those unable to attend, but would like to donate through the WADA campaign, can do so online (WADA Make-A-Wish link).
