Boys’ basketball: Rhinelander 74, Crandon 22
Devon Feck led for Hodags in double figures with 14 points as the Rhinelander High School boys’ basketball team blew out Crandon on the road 74-22 Tuesday night in the regular season opener.
The Hodags led wire to wire in the contest and closed the first half on a 28-4 run to lead 46-11 at the break.
Evan Shoeder had 13 points for Rhinelander while Truman Lmaers and Abe Gretzinger each had 12 as 10 different Hodags got in the scorebook. Logan Jaeger, Jaxon Keepers and Hayden Gretzinger scored six each to lead Crandon.
Rhinelander (1-0, 0-0 Great Northern) opens GNC play at home vs. Antigo Dec. 6.
Boys’ hockey: Shawano/Bonduel 5, Rhinelander 1
The Rhinelander High School boys’ hockey team lost on the road at Shawano/Bonduel 5-1 Tuesday night. Further details from the contest were not available as of the time of this post.
Rhinelander (0-1-0, 0-0-0 Great Northern) hosts Chequamegon/Phillips next Tuesday.
Boys’ swimming: Rhinelander at D.C. Everest Pentathlon
The Rhinelander High School boys’ swim team placed five swimmers in the top eight and seven in the top 13 overall in the six-team D.C. Everest Pentathlon on Tuesday.
Senior Shawn Denis was the second-fastest in his class and third-fastest overall, swimming 50-yard races in each of the four core strokes plus a 100-yard individual medley in an aggregate time of 2 minutes, 42.76 seconds.
Dean Gillingham was the top freshman in sixth (2:52.22) and Judson O’Malley was the top sophomore in 12th (2:56.08). Rhineladner also got top-10 finishes from seniors Samson Shinners (5th), Brock Arrowood (7th) and Dolan O’Malley (8th).
Rhinelander will open Great Northern Conference play with a dual meet at home against Medford this coming Tuesday.
