Clinton William Olson, age 84, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Stoughton Hospital. Clint was born in Tomahawk to Edwin and Frances Olson on December 5, 1939 and graduated in the class of 1957 from Rhinelander. He spent over 78 years in the Northwoods, before making his way “south” to Stoughton to be near his cherished family. He is survived by his wife, Janice Olson, of over 56 years, two daughters, Lisa (Jon) Bunne, Laura Mays (Bill Weber); five grandchildren, Michelle (Matt), Kelly (Landon), Trevor (Brittany), Kyle (Megan) and Cameron and two great-grandchildren, Maeve and Madisyn.
Clint worked and retired with the U.S. Forest Service and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a collector of trains and spent many hours putting together elaborate model train gallery displays during the holidays so families and young children could experience the joy. He also enjoyed bowling, snowmobiling, Packers games, Badgers basketball and the annual broomball gathering. He spent many hours on the lake being captain of the pontoon, playing cards, deer hunting with the boys, and just working around the house and yard — whether it was his house or his daughters’ homes.
He is preceeded in death by his son, William Paul Olson, his parents, and many dear friends and family.
A special thank you to the staff at Stoughton Hospital and Skaalen Magnolia Gardens for their care of both Clint and the family.
A celebration of life is being planned at Stoughton American Legion on Tuesday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Rhinelander Pizza Haven, Dec. 5 at 4:30 p.m.
