Ronald J. Palm, age 87, of Homosassa, Florida, died on October 25, 2024 after a long battle with dementia. His wife, Ruth Baron Palm, and his stepdaughter, Raeanne (Tom) Hansen, were by his side. Ron was born Feb 12, 1937, in Rhinelander, and was the son of John T. Palm and Geva Palm.
Ron graduated from Rhinelander High School in 1955, he was an Eagle Scout and was a member of the Army National Guard as a sharpshooter. After leaving the Army with an honorable discharge, he took over Palm Electric from his father. He continued in the family business, thriving in residential, commercial and industrial. Ron was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church. His best years were under the guidance of Pastor Norm Petersen.
His favorite hobby was motorcycles, taking many trips to Sturgis with his fellow Harley buddies. He loved camping, boating, skiing, and hunting, all of which he enjoyed with his wife, Ruth, by his side.
Ron is survived by his wife Ruth, three stepdaughters, Rene Englert, Rachelle Murphy, and Raeanne Hansen, as well as two grandchildren, Jaeden and Jeffrey, all of Florida. He is also survived by his sister Joyce Palm Brunker of Rhinelander, son Eric Palm of Chicago, granddaughter Alicia Palm of Colorado, and daughter Andrea Porter, and grandchildren, Tucker, Tessa, Brody, and Ruby Porter, of Colorado.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association.
