Dishonest, corrupt and ignorant
To the Editor:
In response to the long-time overly dark and negative editorial policies of the Lakeland Times’ Richard Moore and Gregg Walker which in general mirror Donald Trump’s campaign speeches and tweets, I submit three points I feel will be Trump’s legacy:
1. For the next 50-100 years virtually every credible historian will say that Donald Trump was the most dishonest President in American history, and second place (including Richard Nixon) will not even be close. His lies these last 10 years are well documented and number into the thousands, what with eating cats and dogs, winning the 2020 election and fomenting the January 6, 2020 insurrection, etc., etc., etc.
2. For the next 50-100 years these same historians will also say that Donald Trump was the most corrupt President in American history. I am not just talking about paying off porn stars or women who have charged him with sexual assault (another one this week) or cheating on his taxes. I remind readers that he said in 2015 he could shoot somebody on Fifth Ave. in New York City and not lose any voters. He also has stated that he should be immune from prosecution for any crime he commits while President and that he has the right to jail any of his Democratic opponents.
3. It is also my opinion that these same historians will say that Donald Trump was the most ignorant President, certainly in the last 100 years, with no knowledge of history or geography. A man who in February, 2017, one month after his inauguration, found out that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, bragged about it and said not many people knew that. A man who when dealing with Vladimir Putin in 2018 had to be reminded by his advisors that Finland was no longer part of Russia.
I find it shocking that there is not one Wisconsin Republican who dares call Trump out for his lies, his corruption or his ignorance. Not Eric Hovde, not Ron Johnson and not Tom Tiffany.
I remind our readers that in his soon to be released biography, Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Leader, calls Donald Trump “a despicable human being.” I can only hope that readers with great thought will conscientiously cast their vote for someone besides the man I consider to be the most dangerous major party Presidential candidate in American history.
