Gifts for the future

The Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation and Rhinelander High School hosted an annual rite of spring on May 19 as 223 scholarships totaling $325,135 were distributed to RHS seniors during the Rhinelander Community Scholarship Awards ceremony.
The event, held in the John and Dori Brown Performing Arts Center, is an opportunity for graduating seniors to be recognized as they move on to the next phase of their lives.
The scholarships were generously provided by approximately 122 local donors, including RASF itself, and are meant to help students with a wide variety of postsecondary plans including the trades and collegiate attendance to achieve their goals after high school, according to an RASF press release.
The ceremony was attended by recipients, donors, families, community members, RHS staff, and members of the RASF governing board. Board members helped direct people and distributed programs prior to the event. Throughout the two-hour ceremony, local family memorials, class reunions, and businesses charitably contributed to help send students to postsecondary schooling after graduation. Following the ceremony, a reception was held, with refreshments and snacks provided and served by the RHS ProStart class.
The Rhinelander Area Scholarship Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization, was established in 1991. The volunteer board annually facilitates hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships to graduating Rhinelander High School seniors. RASF also manages a portfolio of more than a million dollars to give to graduating seniors. Since its inception in 1991, the RASF has provided over $475,000 to over 493 graduating seniors, many of whom might not receive scholarship support from other sources. Fundraising is the primary source for these additional funds.
