Additions to Oneida County tourism website highlight area’s diversity and accessibility
New updates to the Oneida County Tourism Council website are promoting the county’s diverse-owned businesses and accessibility options as a way to encourage all visitors to feel welcome in the Northwoods, the council announced in a press release.
ADA+ additions to the travel website, oneidacountywi.com, include additional filters for businesses owned by minorities, veterans, women, LGBTQ+ and those with disabilities, as well filters detailing places with elevators, accommodations for the visually and hearing impaired, accessibility, ADA-compliant rooms and bathrooms, those that welcome service animals and more.
Each business listing on the website will also list individual diversity and accessibility offerings, the release states.
“In Oneida County, we want every visitor to feel welcome,” said Krystal Westfahl, president of the Oneida County Tourism Council. “These filters will help travelers find businesses that can best accommodate their needs and allow people to easily support diversely owned shops, restaurants and more. We’re proud of our commitment to inclusivity and look forward to encouraging it in the Northwoods wherever we can.”
The website now includes more information on trail accessibility as well, with descriptions including the type of trail surface, features like bridges, rest areas with accessible restrooms, and parking information.
“These detailed descriptions are incredibly helpful for trail users,” Westfahl said. “They’re easy to find on the website with really crucial information that can help a visitor decide, at a glance, which trail they want to explore. It’s an amazing resource.”
