ArtStart Sock Hop June 8

ArtStart has announced it is throwing a Summer Sock Hop Celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at 68 S. Stevens Street, Rhinelander.

The free event will feature music from The Tinglers, a rockabilly/American roots music trio specializing in ‘50s rock-n-roll. Their repertoire includes hits from Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Ricky Nelson and Elvis Presley. The Tinglers will be playing live from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the ArtStart stage.  

Attendees can purchase a soda or treat from the “soda shop”; beer and wine will also be available; kids will be invited to participate in an art project; galleries will be open and there will be a best dressed contest. 

“We invite everyone to dress up in their best sock hop duds!” encouraged Traci Stinebrink, communications director at ArtStart. “At 12:30, we’ll have a Best Dressed contest. Two winners will be awarded best dressed and receive a Culver’s gift card.”

ArtStart will also be selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a pontoon day rental from Schroeder’s Marina.  Raffle tickets are $5 each, 3 for $10, or 8 for $20 and all proceeds support ArtStart.  

“It will be a beautiful day in downtown Rhinelander,” continued Stinebrink. “Music, art, and fun for the whole family. We hope everyone heads downtown on June 8th!”
