With the final two games of the regular season rained out, the Rhinelander High School baseball team had to get a little creative Tuesday to honor its seniors and get in one final tune-up prior to the WIAA tournament.

The Hodags accomplished both goals by hosting Prentice in a scrimmage at the Hodag Dome. Though Rhinelander outscored Prentice, 9-3, the game did not count toward either team’s overall record. Both teams batted their entire varsity rosters and threw multiple pitchers in the scrimmage.

The Hodags traveled to Ashland Thursday to open the WIAA tournament in a game that concluded after press time for today’s edition. The winner would face either Bloomer or Amery this coming Tuesday. A full report will be published in Tuesday’s River News.
