ArtStart announces summer exhibition
ArtStart has announced its Summer 2024 Exhibition, “Textile Politics: A Call to Action.”
The exhibition, featuring the works of artist Rachel Breen, opened on May 16 and will run through Aug. 6, according to an ArtStart press release.
In this, her most recent exhibition, Breen explores used textiles assemblages as calls to political action, the release states.
“I have created these works with an interest in helping citizens to express collective power.” she explained. “Action that is needed to change the global garment industry, protect our planet and publicly express solidarity with the workers who make our clothes.”
Breen’s work has been shown widely across the country as well as internationally. Her exhibitions include a solo exhibition at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2020. Her exhibition, “The Price of Our Clothes,” at the Perlman Museum, was included in the top 20, best of 2018, exhibitions in the U.S. by Hyperallergic (December 20, 2018).
