Allan Richard Simmons, age 68, died on May 2, 2024 in Whitewater. He was born on July 25, 1955, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Gerald and Margery (Lund) Simmons.
Allan attended Rhinelander High School and resided in Rhinelander for several years before moving to Eau Claire to live in a group home for additional support. He had recently moved from Eau Claire to Whitewater to be closer to his numerous siblings. With health and cognitive challenges, Allan forged ahead to create a life for himself.
From an early age, Allan had a love for music. He played guitar, wrote music, and had an extensive collection of albums. Allan also enjoyed watching gameshows on TV and his favorites were “The Price is Right” and “Wheel of Fortune.” He loved spending time with family during the holidays and birthdays. Allan was very caring and compassionate toward all living things. He especially enjoyed the act of giving and receiving, and as part of that giving nature, he was an organ donor. A big thanks to Allan for his kindness and gentle nature.
Allan is survived by his brothers Craig Simmons and Mark Simmons, his sisters Julia and Wendy Simmons, his several nieces and nephews Ryan and Erika Brewer, Travis (Lauren) Pommerening, Brigette Pommerening, Marley and Finley Simmons, Teddy and Tyler Simmons, and Ashley Kudick, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Gerald and Margery Simmons and his brother Jeffrey Simmons.
Thank you to all of Allan’s health professionals and social services that assisted in his care throughout the years.
Graveside services for Allan will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at Northland Memorial Park Cemetery in Rhinelander. You may leave your private condolences for the Simmons family at www.carlsonfh.com.
