RHS Sports recap: Friday, May 10
Golf: Rhinelander 3rd/7, GNC Meet No. 4
The Rhinelander High School golf team shot 325 on Friday and placed third in the fourth leg of the Great Northern Conference golf tournament at Eagle River Golf Course.
Sam Schoppe led the way for the Hodags, shooting a 5-over round of 76 to finish in a tie for fifth on the day. Brody Kowieski was one stroke back in seventh place. Blake Petroff just missed the points, finishing 11th with an 82. Chase West shot 90 and Hank Kowieski shot 99.
The Hodags are in Merrill Saturday for a non-conference invite.
Boys’ tennis: Rhinelander at Sheboygan Invite
The Rhinelander High School boys' tennis team took part in the Sheboygan Invite on Friday. Rhinelander was scheduled to play three matches, but the only score reported as of the publication of this post was a 5-2 loss to Sheboygan North.
The Hodags got wins from Joey Belanger/Dalton Fritz (No. 1 doubles) and Zacha King (No. 4 singles). Both wins were decided in match tiebreakers.
The Hodags (14-7, 5-0 Great Northern) are slated to play two more matches in Sheboygan Saturday.
